Did ya miss me??

Ugh, I have not felt like blogging lately. My Grandma ended up back in the hospital on Christmas Day, just getting out today (can we say stress?) for heart-related problems.

I haven't knitted in at least a week.

We had our Christmas on Christmas Eve, and it was fantastic. We had lots of good food (provided by yours truly), and we all spoiled each other rotten with gifts. Brad bought me two gorgeous rings, some DVDs, knitting books (Cables Untangled and Victorian Lace Today), and more. My sisters got me a shirt that has a photo of me getting my first tattoo and reads: "The day we knew Lori wasn't adopted"! My Dad got me all the Nintendo DS games on my Amazon list (seven!). I got lots more fab stuff, I can't even think of it all now.

Hope everyone had a great holiday and has a fantastic New Year! I hope I get the blogging bug back soon!

More poo in the fire

Nice post title, eh?

My Grandma was supposed to be released from the hospital today, and instead she ended herself in the ICU. At first it seemed she had a heart attack, but really she had an irregular heartbeat and passed out. I quickly cancelled the client that had just walked in the door and flew over to the hospital to be with my Dad. Thank goodness it ended up as good news, and she had that "episode" at the hospital where they could take care of her right away.
I just don't know how much more of this I can take. My anxiety is back big time, and I hate to even ponder if this week could get any worse, because it will. Oh, and did I mention I have to go in for jury duty tomorrow?? OK Universe, get all the "crapping on Lori" out of your system right.now.

When do I get to open presents? I need presents!

This and That

This week is really wearing on me.....
My Grandma had an emergency appendectomy yesterday, but after sitting at the hospital with my Dad until she came out of surgery, I got to go to a potluck dinner with my knitting group friends.
I took my car in to have the brakes fixed today, and the mechanic said the bottom of the car was covered in blacktop tar and pea gravel, and I'd have to live with the God-awful brake squealing (and I think we were sold the car that way, which pisses me off to no end), but then I went to Fashion Bug with exactly $120 to spend, and they were having a sale! I got 6 tops for $119.25 (pretty good, huh?!) P.S. I'm taking the car back to our regular mechanic, because when he looked at it a few months ago, he said the problem was fix-able (but expensive). This nutjob I talked to today was the mechanic at the dealer we bought the car from.
So with all this stress and aaarrrggghhhh I'm going thru, I decided to take action. I called my hairdresser and am going in Friday to get my hair chopped off. I may not be able to control much, but I can control the length of my hair, right?
P.P.S. No diet posts for awhile, at least thru the holidays. Comfort food's all I got right now. I haven't put any weight back on...yet.

The holiday season is kicking my ass right now, which is why I haven't posted much lately. I did get a new (small) tree and put it up:

I'm making myself a scarf. The yarn is Berocco Foliage:

Sir B's sweater, which I had to frog too many times to count. It's still not to gauge, so I'll have to block it whenever it gets done:

For fun, the Moon and Stars blanket. You can just see the bottoms of the stars:

And kitties! Taffy decided that Dad's water was way better than hers, and Lexie has to do just about everything that Taffy does:

Yup, we have snow!

I know, I'm not the first Illinois blogger, and certainly not the last to post about the snowfall we got last night. It looks so pretty, and one BIG perk to working from home is not having to go out in it if I don't want to!!
I've been meaning to post this week, but I've been so depressed. Monday it hit me....the holidays are here, and I have to get through them without my Mom. Plus work's been super-busy (good!), so any free time I have I try to knit. The quilts may get some action this weekend, too. After I put out the Christmas decorations.
