I'm sick

No lace knitting, or knitting of any kind, going on here. I've had a nasty cold since Monday, and I can barely read without getting a headache. Yuck.

Bitch. Whine. Repeat.

Why do colors not like me? When I'm in a yarn store, certain colors jump out at me, begging me to take them home to use in my next project, but as soon as I start the project....they revolt. "Haha!", they say, "You thought we would look good together! We showed you!"
Needless to say, the baby set isn't going well. I ordered the exact colors from the pattern today from Patternworks, and I see I get to go up a needle size too. Hopefully I won't have the cramps in my hands then (size 0 and 2 DPNs are a pain to hold on to, especially when you're learning fair isle as you go). So now I need an in-between project; something to start while I'm waiting for the new! improved! yarn to show up in the mail; something I can throw aside for a few months while I get the baby 'fit done. I am thinking of starting a shawl (which will help get my hands warmed up to the teeny needles) since I have a cone of laceweight I bought at Stitches Midwest. Do you think it was easy to find a pattern?? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. But I did settle on one, "Azalea" from The First Book of Modern Lace Knitting. Hopefully it won't fight me too much!

I think I need to just crawl back in bed for the rest of the day. Maybe the rest of the week. Ugh.

Drive-by blogging

Haven't started on the baby outfit yet... I've actually been working on a quilting project off-and-on for a few weeks now. I'm making memory quilts out of my Mom's clothing for my sisters, my Dad, and me. I will start the new knitting project by Tuesday (knitting group!).

I just found out recently there is a Rockford Knitting Guild (the Rock'n Knitters) that meets every fourth Tuesday, and I'm planning on going this month to have a look-see.

Thanks for the email compliments on my tank!

Boobalicious Tank is finished!

Know how people always look at supermodels and say, "That woman needs a sandwich?"
They'd never say that about me.
But it is a pretty good self-photo of me, if I do say so myself.
Oh yeah, and the tank looks goo-ood too! I had to shorten the armholes a bit (about three inches), but that's where a crochet seam comes in real handy.

The back. Notice I cut off the butt view.... no one needs to see that, thankyouverymuch! I think it comes up weird at the bottom, but it may block out. I wish it draped as nicely in the back as it does in the front.

Specs:
Boobalicious Tank top from Big Girl Knits, 49" bust (2X size)
KnitPicks Shine Sport yarn in Hydrangea colorway, approx. 10 skeins
Started: 7/3/06
Completed: 9/10/06

Oops!:
When making the pattern, instead of repeating 4 rows in the pattern 12 times more (right before Panel Shaping Part 1), I repeated 6 rows in the pattern 12 times more, including in the instructions for the first right side and wrong side rows (which gave me two extra "pattern as set" rows in between decreases). It worked out great, as you can see. If I hadn't done it, the tank would've been too short and I would've thrown it in the frog pond.
