Yay! Photos!

Here are the flowers I got last week from my friend Kristy:

And here is Taffy being a VERY BAD girl laying on the table by the flowers:

I decided to start a shawl in preparation of the Cancun vacation:

Mediterranean Lace Shawl from A Gathering of Lace

Sir B and I are also learning Spanish! We're using the podcast Coffee Break Spanish, which is lots of fun. I mentioned ages ago we were going to learn Spanish (I'm not even going to try to find a link to that blog entry), but it just never happened until now. I'm going to start Lesson 3 today.

And progress on Moon and Stars blanket--halfway done!:

Here is a photo of (my) finished quilt:

Here's a cool story--I gave Amy her quilt last weekend, and in hers was a square from a black and blue striped shirt. I only cut one square from said shirt because it was silk and a royal pain to cut, and I don't know why, but I threw it in her quilt. When she saw it, she said that she has a shirt exactly like it, and even wore it to Mom's funeral! I told her about it being the only square that was cut from that shirt, and she was so happy she got it! Mom must've been there, whispering in my ear to give that square to Amy.

P.S. I didn't get my computer fixed, I'm using Sir B's computer to upload photos for now!!

Still. No. Photos.

Sorry. Sir B isn't planning on looking at my computer problem until this weekend (even though we're supposed to be at my Dad's all weekend), but you don't hear me saying anything. I've been looking at a new computer. Not sure if it'll happen or not, but I'm hopeful.

And lookey what we put a deposit on the other day--a vacation! A whole week in Cancun over our anniversary, I cannot wait!!

There has been a wee bit of knitting on the Moon and Stars baby blanket. You'll have to take my word on it. Gah, this sucks not being able to post photos!

I'm super-busy with work tomorrow and Saturday, then visiting with family the rest of the weekend, so I probably won't post again until next week. I'm taking Monday off (first D-day), and I'm getting a massage, then probably carting my knitting to Unique Yarns in Rockford for some sit-n-knit time. And look at computers. Sir B said he'd take me out to dinner, wherever I want!

Have a great weekend all!

My computer is NOT my friend right now

I've been trying unsuccessfully to upload photos to Blogger the past few days. It seems the last time I connected my (old) camera to download photos, the disk got screwed up, which in turn screwed up something in my computer. Sigh. Hopefully Sir B can figure out how to fix it soon so I can start posting pictures again!

Yesterday was Mom's birthday, and I got a lovely flower arrangement from my friend Kristy. What a nice surprise!

Happy Birthday Mom

Today is your birthday
without candles and cake,
And since you are not here with me
I will not celebrate.
I cannot send you a birthday card
your hands I cannot touch,
So I ask God to give a message
to the one I love so much.
And grant me one wish
and make it come true,
To have His choir of angels sing
Happy Birthday to you.

Gassy

So this morning I had the pleasure of being awakened at 7:00 (not.a.morning.person. was.not.happy) by the smell of burning plastic. I jumped out of bed and ran around the house trying to find the cause of the smell--no luck. I opened the windows and went back to bed, but the smell was so gross and strong I just resigned myself to the fact I had to get up...at 7am. I finally called Nicor and had them send someone over to look at the stove because the smell wasn't going away with the fresh air, but the tech (who amazingly showed up about 20 minutes after my call) said he couldn't find anything wrong with the stove. The smell is starting going away now. Better safe than sorry!

My husband is so good to me

Yesterday we went over to WalMart so I could look at the cameras in person and, of course, I liked the more expensive camera better! Sir B said I should, "Just get the better camera, otherwise you'll be kicking yourself later". True. So I gleefully picked up this camera, an 8MP Kodak camera (versus the 6MP Kodak bundle I was also looking at) with a killer zoom lens. And if that wasn't enough, Sir B told me he'd buy me a printer dock! Since I used our Christmas gift cards from Dad, he got a thank you call for the camera, and Sir B got a kick out of my grinning ear-to-ear all night over my new toys :) :) :) :) :)

I was so saddened to see that comedian Richard Jeni died on Saturday, of an apparent suicide. Sir B and I got to see him in 2005, and he was a truly great performer. I hope he is at peace.

I've been enjoying some down time the past few days, not working on any projects, just reading and catching up on movie rentals (snuggled under my quilt, of course!). I sent my sister's quilt next-day, but since I didn't waive the signature (which I didn't know about), it sat at the post office all weekend :(

Grrr, I was going to post a photo of my quilt, but my camera messed up the disc. Sigh. I need a new camera! I found this one at WalMart.com...a Kodak camera, printer dock, and carry case. It looks real similar to the one my dad had bought my mom, and she LOVED hers. I think I can talk Sir B into getting it, since we're actually getting money back from our taxes this year!

Ahhhhh...

I just got back from a massage, and it was extra-special for me because I have all the quilts done!! Yay! Making mine third (instead of last) gave me a bit of finish-itis this morning. I almost couldn't bear the thought of doing another quilt, but I bit the bullet and got it all. done. I'm mailing Angela hers tomorrow, and everyone has to keep quiet until Amy gets hers on the 24th.

From Angel Catcher:
I remember my favorite meal with you: We used to love when Mom made calzones. they'd always turn out bigger than a dinner plate, and we always told her to make them smaller. She'd take the extra dough and make little balls out of it and fry them, then roll them in garlic butter. They were SO good, I used to tell her for my birthday I wanted just those for a meal! Favorites also included spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, and her super-special chocolate cake with whipped cream frosting.

I am going to remember you by: Making a cake for your birthday. I still feel guilty for not making you one last year; I was waiting until you got home from the hospital. Remembering you while making the quilts was nice, too.

Thank you, can I have another??

Sir B loves his new cardigan so much he's asked for another--same pattern, different color. I've created a monster! He is recovering nicely from his surgery.

I have two quilts done, and I bought the backing fabric for the other two quilts today. Hope to have those done by the end of this week.
